Why Can't Xander Talk?
Do you know someone who is non-verbal? Maybe a loved one, or a student of yours? This book is designed to show children that just because someone may communicate differently, they can still be a great friend. In this book, Xander cannot talk, but can communicate with "yes and no" buttons. The book talks about how some people use sign language, or others may not have help at all, we just watch for facial reactions. I believe this book is a great way to get other children used to the idea that some children cannot talk like them, and that is perfectly okay!
